This past Saturday, February 18, 2017, the UW Huskies travelled down to Corvallis, Oregon to take on the Oregon State Beavers. The game started with the Huskies kicking off exactly at 1pm. UW took a quick lead 10 minutes into the game with a penalty kick slotted by inside center Tristan Ingold. The Beavers quickly came back putting a try on the board in the 15th minute. Following this the Huskies found the try zone in the 22min followed by a penalty conversion by Oregon State to make the game 10-8. However UW was able to find the try zone once more before half, going into the half with a 15-8 lead.
The Huskies came out firing, scoring 21 unanswered points within the first 25 minutes of the second half. The last score was put on the board by Oregon State, being awarded a penalty try for back chat against the Huskies within their own 22-meter zone. Overall the Dawgs came to play this weekend even if the team only traveled with 17 total players. Coach Gabriel Ho had this to say about the game: “The boys started finding some rhythm this game and it was really encouraging to see after our disappointment last week. We'll continue working hard to execute our game but I'm excited about the progress.”
The Huskies look to ride this momentum into next week when they take on the Boise State Broncos, for their first home game in Seattle at 12pm.
