2019-2020 Season Kickoff

By Will Wheaton, 10/01/19, 3:00PM PDT

Greetings Alumni and Husky Rugby Fans,

Last year was all about growth and development. We lost a few graduates, but gained many more promising new players and underclassmen. The boys are poised to have a great season this year, with 40 on the roster so far including new international talent, 5 coaches, and a strong development program lined up through our Seawolves partnership and collaboration with the Women’s Team.

1) GAME SUPPORT: You can find our 2019-2020 schedule here. We will likely play 2nd XV games at 11:30am. Please support both 1st XV and 2nd XV teams!

2) EVENTS: We plan to have a few events that the alumni and parents can participate in

  • Alumni Golf Tournament
  • Seawolves Game – Parents and Alumni will join players to support the Pro Seattle Seawolves
  • Husky Banquet – Held in the spring, will include athlete awards and a silent auction to benefit the team
  • Professional Connections Meet & Greet – As a way for upperclassmen players to meet alumni and local business people as they launch their careers

3) ALUMNI SUPPORT: If you are interested in being involved in the Alumni Association, please contact Alumni Coordinator Bill Kessler.

  • Because of your contributions, this Fall we will award our first ever Ryan Job Memorial Rugby Scholarship! Donate here to keep this scholarship going.
  • In October we head to Langley, BC (first international rugby experience for this group) for a rugby camp with Canada U20 coach Adam Roberts and Trinity West University.
  • This Fall Shalom Suniula will be among the Seattle Seawolves and Atavus guest coaches who will accelerate our rugby skills development.
  • We want to provide the players with travel opportunities. Our internal goal is to take the team on an international tour in 2021. Argentina? Japan? The UK?
  • Sponsorship: Next year’s sponsor opportunities will include branded jerseys and rugby balls.

The boys will be fundraising aggressively to meet our 2019-2020 aspirations. Any help you can provide at this time will supplement much needed funding for team expenses like travel, gear, athletic trainers, and coaching support. We are a 501c3 tax-exempt non-profit. If you can, please donate at the bottom of our home page here.

We hope to see you at our games this year. Thank you for your support!
