Join the Dawgs in California: A Thank You & an Invitation
Thanks to your support, the Dawgs are going to California! Learn how you can join them.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Husky Rugby community, we have met our fundraising goal to aid the club in their trip to California this January. Your contributions will go a long way in ensuring that our players can travel, learn, and enjoy a week of high-level training and competition. This tour is a major step forward in strengthening our team culture, testing ourselves against national-caliber opponents, and providing a formative experience for our student-athletes. Thank you for helping make this opportunity a reality.
With the tour locked in, we’d like to see if there is any interest in joining the team on the road for this amazing Husky Rugby experience. For alumni, families, and supporters, this is a great chance to attend training sessions, watch matches up close, socialize with players and coaches, and reconnect with fellow Huskies. Whether you’re looking to relive the camaraderie of your playing days or simply support the next generation in a hands-on way, this trip offers a memorable and meaningful way to engage.
What This Would Look Like
The team's schedule is as follows:
- January 13: Joint Training session and (3) 40-minute live match periods with 2024 National Champions Saint Mary's College (SMC) at their facility, followed by an evening social with both teams.
- January 14: Joint Classroom session and film review with Saint Mary's.
- January 15: Match against UC Santa Cruz. Mixed roster.
- January 16: Free day to explore, relax, or connect with other supporters.
- January 17: 1st and 2nd sides both take on San Jose State.
For folks not in the Bay Area, San Jose would be your best options to fly into. Supporters based in Seattle could possibly fly with the team using their block of reserved airline tickets—if interested, timing is important, so please reach out soon. Lodging options are TBD but could potentially be with the team at their accommodations though many supporters may prefer nearby hotel options. Many of you will fondly remember the days of cramming 5 players into a 2 bed motel room. This option can also be made available if you so choose.
Why This Trip Matters
For the club, the goals are clear:
- Train alongside and learn from elite-level programs.
- Test themselves against out-of-state collegiate competition.
- Strengthen team culture and camaraderie through shared travel and challenge.
For alumni and supporters, the value runs just as deep. This trip offers a way to support the program beyond writing checks—by showing up, engaging with players, and reconnecting with fellow Dawgs. It’s also a chance to meet the young men whose scholarships and opportunities your generosity has helped make possible. And for many, the trip may spark memories of your own tours, tight quarters, and the team bonds that came with them.
Interested in Joining the Tour?
If you have interest in joining in on some or all of this trip, please reach out to Chris Majer (chrism@hp2mail.com). He is gathering interest and coordinating next steps for supporters joining the tour.
We hope you’ll consider being part of this unforgettable week of Husky Rugby. Go Dawgs!
