Match Report: Huskies Take on WWU

It was a tough day at the office Saturday. As our development continues, so do our rivals up the road at Western Washington. There were many positives across the 80 minutes, with long stretches where we put WWU under pressure, and held them defensively. Early in the game, we were knocking on the door in WWU's red zone, looking to score the first try. Unfortunately, as happened a few times in the game, we turned over the ball and WWU flipped the field with a booming kick for touch and a series of well-executed phases.

The Huskies kept WWU scoreless for the first 20 minutes. Similar to our OSU game, desparate to get on the board, WWU scored the first 3 from a penalty kick. A few more missed opportunities for the Huskies and WWU capitalized on our errors.

With some UW players on the field sick or with nagging injuries, we were in a position to field some of our up-and-coming players, giving them a taste of what it's like to play against a formidable opponent. That also meant that inexperienced players were exposed on the edge, and WWU ran up the score, keeping us scoreless over 80 minutes.

Final score:
UW 0 - WWU 64

This win puts WWU in national contention, and we wish them all the best as they advance to the national quarterfinals. The final score was a tough pill to swallow, but the Huskies are eager to finish on a high note against CWU, where they narrowly lost in the fall.
