This weekend the Huskies travel to Corvallis with an overnight on Friday and Kickoff at 1pm at Student Legacy Park against Oregon State (2nd XV kicks off 2:45). OSU is always a competitive rivalry, where the wins have alternated each of the last 4 years. OSU earned two wins against us last year, the first time since Covid that we've played twice in a season. This year we bested OSU in the fall 32-20 at home, and will meet 3 times - after this away trip we have a Starfire curtain raiser before the Seawolves game on May 2nd, kicking off our 2025 alumni weekend.
With the conference title out of reach, the coaches look to award some hard-working and promising Freshmen with first caps in the first XV (Dylan, Declan, and Enzo), and 8 Freshmen overall in the squad. Our backs have been secondary to the forwards, but this week a win will require an expansive style of play, getting it to the edges often. As we maintain 40+ players at training every day, and last night's session showcased some of the best rugby we've seen all year, we are optimistic about this weekend and as excited as ever about the trajectory of UW rugby.
