Match Recap: Trinity Western University
The Husky's take on Trinity Western for their home opener. Read the match report and view photos from the match.

Saturday the rain held off for a good day of rugby. The players were ready to go with all hands on deck setting up the field, medical staff taping players, and the mentality was confident and energized through warm-ups.
We rose to the level of Trinity Western, with vigorous tackling against a team that outweighed us by 30 lbs in every position on the field. It seems every coaching lesson we've had time to install was adopted. A couple unfortunate phases resulted in two early tries by TWU, but after that the Dawgs got to work, eliminating scoring opportunities for the rest of the half, and going into the break with a converted try.
Halftime Score: 12-7
The second half had us playing into a strong wind, and it resulted in a couple judgment errors under high balls, and allowed TWU to play in our end most of the half. The other major challenge was the scrum, where we lost the majority of our own ball, and all but one of their put-ins. This was probably the decider in the game. Trinity then pulled away from us with multiple tries and a few conversions, the score now 31-7. Emphasis on being tough manifested in the Dawgs rallying in the fourth quarter, scoring the final two tries of the game.
Final Score UW 19-31 TWU.
It's a different mentality this year, and after game two I can tell you all the coaches were proud and excited about our potential. We are always a club to build through the season, so it bodes well for our rematch in the spring.
